Your family’s stories are yours.
Dear To You exists to keep precious memories safe. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Last updated 1 November 2026.
What we collect
- From you, the gift-giver: your name and email, and payment details, which are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- About the person receiving the gift: their name and email, your relationship to them, and the Sunday you’d like the questions to begin.
- Their stories: the replies they send to our weekly questions, and any photos they choose to share.
- For printed books: the delivery name and address.
- When you contact us: what you write in our contact form.
- When you visit the site: anonymous usage information through Google Analytics, such as which pages are visited.
How we use it
Only to run Dear To You:
- to send the weekly questions, and copy you in on the replies
- to put their replies and photos together into their book, and deliver it
- to answer your messages, and to send you important updates about your order
- to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it
We don’t sell your information, and we never use your family’s stories for advertising or share them publicly without permission.
Who helps us
We use a few trusted services to run the business, and they only handle information to do that job for us:
- Stripe for payments
- Tally for our order and contact forms
- Google (Gmail, Google Workspace tools and Google Analytics) for email, record keeping and site statistics
- VentraIP for email hosting and Cloudflare for website hosting
- our printing and delivery partners, for printed books
Some of these services store information outside Australia, including in the United States.
Keeping it safe
We keep your information only as long as we need it to deliver the journey and the book, and to meet our legal obligations. We take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Your choices
- You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- You can ask us to delete your information, or your family member’s stories, at any time.
- The person receiving the gift can stop the questions whenever they like, just by letting us know.
- You can opt out of Google Analytics with your browser’s privacy settings or Google’s opt-out add-on.
Questions or concerns
Send us a message and we’ll get back to you. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
